ABOUT US
As a child I loved to dance and perform, but I became aware that sometimes the traditional approach to learning dance can exclude or discourage many young people who love and want to dance. The result was that many of my peers lost interest and confidence and moved onto other pursuits.
My philosophy and teaching ethos is that pupils learn best through encouragement and enjoyment, and I strive to create a relaxed, non-competitive setting in my classes. I am a firm believer that enjoyable exercise has a significant effect on a young person’s well-being. I endeavour to create a teaching environment where my pupils enjoy a very positive experience. My classes are fun and offer friendship, as well as dance skills. This greatly enhances self-esteem and can only result in a healthier, fitter young person.
I aspire to give my pupils as many performing opportunities as possible. I have built up many contacts and friendships in the community and consequently, Poptastic are frequently invited to perform at local events. Regular opportunities to perform create new challenges and help to build confidence in performing and in most cases, this facilitates greater self-confidence. Rehearsing for an event provides a clear goal, requires team effort and spirit and ultimately, a wonderful sense of achievement.
